Orotina is the name of the ninth canton in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 141.92 square kilometres, and has a population of 16,651 (estimate as of 2003). The capital city of the canton is also called Orotina. The canton lies on the western side of the Coastal Mountain Range between the Río Jesús María and Río Machuca on the north and the Río Grande de Tárcoles on the south.
