Guananico is a town in the Dominican Republic, situated in the Puerto Plata Province. It has an area of 58.02 square kilometers and a population of 8,954 of which 3,025 live in the urban part and 5,929 in the rural part. It is the youngest, smallest, and of the smallest population of the eight cities in the province of Puerto Plata.

Fortaleza San Felipe

Fortaleza San Felipe is a historic Spanish fortress located in the north of Dominican Republic in the province of Puerto Plata. Is also known as El Morro de San Felipe and was used to protect the City of Puerto Plata from pirates and corsairs. It is located on a hill at the Puntilla Del Malecón, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean; its strategic location protected the entrance to the city's seaport.

La Isabela

La Isabela in the Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic is considered the first formal European settlement in the New World. It was founded by Christopher Columbus during his second voyage in 1493 and named after Queen Isabella I of Castile. This was after discovering that the fort of La Navidad, which he had constructed during his first trip, had been totally destroyed by the native Taino people. The settlement was established to search for precious metals.
