Cordillera Septentrional

The Cordillera Septentrional runs parallel to the north coast of the Dominican Republic, with extensions to the northwest, the Tortuga island, and to the southeast, the Samaná Peninsula where it becomes the Sierra de Samaná. Its highest mountain is Diego de Ocampo, close to Santiago de los Caballeros, with 1,250 metres . There are several small plains between this range and the Atlantic Ocean. Rivers are short and most of them flow to the north.

2003 Dominican Republic earthquake

On September 22, 2003 at 00:45 local time, a magnitude 6.4 Mw earthquake occurred close the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. Its epicenter was located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:19.847|N|70.666|W||||| | |name= }}, near the town of Luperon, Puerto Plata and 40 miles north the city of Santiago de los Caballeros. This earthquake could also be felt in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Santiago Municipal Airport

Santiago Municipal Airport was a both passenger and military airport located in the Center of Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. This airport served this city with daily flights to San Juan in Puerto Rico, Port-au-Prince in Haiti, Santiago de Cuba, Miami and so many domestics destinations in the country. It was the major Hub of Dominair, who had based two Dash 8 here. It also used as a secondary hub by the FAD.

Estadio Cibao

Estadio Cibao is a multi-use stadium in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Currently, it is mostly used for baseball games and hosts the home games of the Águilas Cibaeñas in the Dominican Winter Baseball League. The stadium opened on October 25, 1958 and was constructed by the engineer Bienvenido Maartinez Brea. Estadio Cibao seats 18,077 spectators, making it the largest in the Dominican Republic.
