Buku Mera
Buku Mera is a village situated midways up a mountain range, in the East Timor Liquiçá district. The village is located to the south east of the Liquiçá township, halfway between Liquiçá and Bazartete. During September 1999, the village suffered numerous cases of rape and murder at the hands of the Besi Merah Putih militia.

Bazartete (also known as Bazar Tete) is a village in East Timor, comprising a subdistrict of Liquiçá district, located on a mountain top deep in the rain forest, just to the southeast of Liquiçá township. Liquiçá
Liquiçá is a coastal city in East Timor, 32 km to the west of Dili, the national capital. Liquiçá is the capital of Liquiçá District. The city has a population of 19,000 inhabitants. On April 6, 1999, in the campaign of intimidation and violence that preceded the referendum for East Timorese independence, about 200 persons were killed in the Liquiçá Church Massacre, when members of the Besi Merah Putih militia, supported by Indonesian soldiers and police, attacked the church.
