Maliana

Maliana is a city in East Timor, 149 km southwest of Dili, the national capital. It has a population of 22,000. It is the capital of the district of Bobonaro and subdistrict of Maliana, and is located just a few kilometers from the border with Indonesia. It is also the see city of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Maliana, which was formed by Pope Benedict XVI with territory taken from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dili.

Battle of Aidabasalala

The Battle of Aidabasalala (16 October 1999) was a small but hard fought action during the 1999 East Timorese crisis between pro-Indonesian militia, and a small six-man Australian covert reconnaissance patrol from the Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) operating as part of the United Nations-mandated International Force for East Timor (INTERFET).

Lolotoe

Lolotoe is a city in Bobonaro District, East Timor. It is the capitel of Lolotoe subdistrict, which has 7,021 inhabitants. Most of them are cultivating coffee. The subdistrict is subdivided in seven sucos: Deudet, Gildapil (Gilapil), Guda, Lebos, Lontas, Lupai (Lupal) and Opa. Lolotoe suffered a lot under violent clashes of 1999 by Timorese pro-Indonesia militias and Indonesian army.

Atsabe

Atsabe is a town and subdistrict in the Ermera District of East Timor. Its population at the 2004 census was 16,037. In Marabo are the remains of a hot springs bath from colonial times. The pool is still in use.
