Mota'ain

Mota'ain, also spelled Mota'in or Mota Ain, is a village in Bobonaro District in East Timor and is the country's main road border crossing into West Timor in Indonesia. The East Timor-Indonesia border runs along the River Mota. Mota'ain is 118km west of the East Timor capital Dili and 3km west of the town of Batugade. The first town across the border in Indonesia is Atapupu, 25km from Atambua, the seat of the Belu Regency of the Nusa Tenggara Timur Province in West Timor.

Balibo

Balibo is a town in East Timor situated approximately 10 kilometres from the Indonesian border. It is located in the subdistrict of Balibo, Bobonaro District. It was estimated by Human Rights Watch that 70% of the town was destroyed during the militia violence that preceded the vote on East Timorese independence.

Battle of Aidabasalala

The Battle of Aidabasalala (16 October 1999) was a small but hard fought action during the 1999 East Timorese crisis between pro-Indonesian militia, and a small six-man Australian covert reconnaissance patrol from the Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) operating as part of the United Nations-mandated International Force for East Timor (INTERFET).

Atabae (subdistrict)

Atabae is a subdistrict and suco in the Bobonaro District of East Timor. Its population at the 2010 census was 10,976. The capital of the subdistrict is Aidabaleten, which is sometimes wrongly named Atabae, too. The real village of Atabae lies in the suco of Rairobo.

Belu Regency
