Bati (woreda)

Bati is one of the woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Oromia Zone, Bati is bordered on the south by Dawa Harewa, on the southeast by the Argobba special woreda, on the west and north by the Debub Wollo Zone, and on the east by the Afar Region. Towns in Bati include Bati, Gerba and Degan. A notable landmark of this woreda is the Aneba forest.

Wollo Province

Wollo was an historical region and province in the northeastern part of Ethiopia, with its capital city at Dessie. The province was named after the Wollo Oromo, who settled in this part of Ethiopia in the 17th century. An older name for Wollo is Lakomelza. Following the liberation of Ethiopia from Italian occupation in 1941, the provinces of Amhara Sayint, Azabo, Lasta, Raya Province, Wag, and Yejju were added to Wollo.

Lake Hayq

Lake Hayq or Lake Haik is a freshwater lake of Ethiopia. It is located north of Dessie, in the Debub Wollo Zone of the Amhara Region (or kilil). The town of Hayq is to the west of the lake. Lake Hayq is 6.7 km long and 6 km wide, with a surface area of 23 km². It has a maximum depth of 88 m and is at an elevation of 2,030 meters above sea level. It is one of two lakes in the Tehuledere woreda.

Istifanos Monastery

Istifanos Monastery (or St Stephen Monastery) is a monastery in Ethiopia, located in Lake Hayq. (The Stephen commemorated at the monastery is not the Saint Stephen of Acts. ) The structure was built around an 8th century church of Aksumite origins by Emperor Yekuno Amlak to fulfill a promise he made to Iyasus Mo'a.

Lake Ardibbo

Lake Ardibbo is a freshwater lake of Ethiopia. It is located north of Dessie, in the Debub Wollo Zone of the Amhara Region. It is situated about five kilometers southeast of Lake Hayq; both lakes are in Tehuledere woreda. This lake is smaller in size than Lake Hayq and flows into Hayq via the Anchercah River.
