Elduvík

Elduvík is a small village in the Faroe Islands. Elduvík is located in the Funningsfjørður-inlet on Eysturoy's northeast side. The village which has a population of 23 is split into two parts by a small river. The church in Elduvík dates from 1952. Visible from Elduvík is the nearby island of Kalsoy. Funningur Church

Funninger Church, in the village of Funningur, is one of the 10 old wooden churches in the Faroe Islands. It was inaugurated on 30 November 1847 and is for that reason the newest of the old traditional wooden churches. Porkeri Church was also inaugurated in 1847 but a few months beforehand. Funningur Church is the only wooden church and the oldest church in the Eiði parish. Until 1929, when the Gjógv Church was inaugurated, it was the parish church for both the villages of Funningur and Gjógv.

Funningur

Funningur is a town on the Faroe Islands. It is located on the north-west coast of Eysturoy . It was the only village in the municipality called Funnings kommuna, which on 1 January 2009 became part of Runavíkar kommuna. To the west of the village rises the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands: Slættaratindur (882m). Tradition says that the first viking who settled on the Faroe Islands settled in Funningur.

Oyndarfjørður

Oyndarfjørður is a village on the northeastern coast of the Faroese island of Eysturoy in the Runavíkar municipality. The 2005 population was 180. Its postal code is FO 690. The town's church dates from 1838. It is famous for two rinkusteinar, or rocking stones, located in the sea nearby. The name of the village is derived from the man’s name Oyvindur (which is Eyvindur in Icelandic). The village was isolated until the road from the south reached the village in 1969.

Gjógvaráfjall

Gjógvaráfjall is a 345 meter high mountain in the village Vágur. The mountain is located north of Vágseiði in the western part of the village. Some of the houses in Vágur are located on Gjógavaráfjall. A little river is named after the mountain, it is called Gjógvará. "Á" in Faroese means river. "Gjógv" is the Faroese word for gorge.
