Château de Meung-sur-Loire

The Château de Meung-sur-Loire is a castle and former episcopal palace in the commune of Meung-sur-Loire in the Loiret département of France. The Château de Meung-sur-Loire, located next to the collegial church, was the country residence of the Bishops of Orléans. It was built and destroyed several times. The oldest still existing parts date from the 12th century and were built by Manassès de Seignelay (bishop from 1207 to 1221).

Saint-Laurent-des-Eaux

Saint-Laurent-des-Eaux is a former commune of the Loir-et-Cher department of France. In 1972, it was merged with Nouan-sur-Loire to form the new commune of Saint-Laurent-Nouan. Saint-Laurent-des-Eaux is the site of a nuclear power plant. It consists of: Two UNGG reactors, now closed. These entered service in 1969 and 1971, and closed in 1990 and 1992. Two PWRs, each of 900 MWe, which entered service in 1983.

Château de Talcy

The Château de Talcy lies on the left bank of the Loire River, in the Loire Valley, famous for its 16th-century châteaux. It was commissioned toward 1520 by Bernardo Salviati, a Florentine banker with connections to the Medici family. The château, which is imbedded in the village to one side, where the village church forms one side of the courtyard, is more Gothic in its vernacular feeling that might be expected in a structure built for an Italian patron at the height of the Renaissance.

Treaty of Chambord

The Treaty of Chambord was an agreement signed on 15 January 1552 at the Château de Chambord between the Catholic King Henry II of France and three Protestant princes of the Holy Roman Empire led by Elector Maurice of Saxony. Based on the terms of the treaty, Maurice ceded the vicariate over the Three Bishoprics of Toul, Verdun, and Metz to France. In return, he was promised military and economic aid from Henry II in order to fight against the forces of Emperor Charles V of Habsburg.
