The Champagne wine region is a historic province within the administrative province of Champagne in the northeast of France. The area is best known for the production of the sparkling white wine that bears the region's name. Champagne (historical province)

Champagne is a historic province in the northeast of France, now best known for the sparkling white wine that bears its name. Formerly ruled by the counts of Champagne, its western edge is about 100 miles (160 km) east of Paris. The cities of Troyes, Reims, and Épernay are the commercial centers of the area. Most of Champagne is now part of the French administrative region of Champagne-Ardenne, which comprises four departments: Ardennes, :Aube, :Haute-Marne, and Marne.

Athis Airfield

Athis Airfield was a World War II military airfield located approximately 1 km northeast of Athis, approximately 130 km east-northeast of Paris. It was used by the Luftwaffe, then by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. After the war, the site was abandoned and is now agricultural fields.

Villeneuve-Vertus Airfield

Villeneuve-Vertus Airfield is an abandoned World War II military airfield, which is located near the commune of Vertus in the Champagne-Ardenne department of northern France. Located just near the commune, it was a United States Army Air Force temporary airfield established during the Northern France Campaign in September 1944. Its primary use was for C-47 Skytrain transport of Army airborne parachute units, and for resupply of ground forces and casualty evacuation.
