Canal entre Champagne et Bourgogne

The Canal entre Champagne et Bourgogne, previously the Canal de la Marne à la Saône is a canal in the North-East of France connecting the towns of Vitry-le-François and Maxilly-sur-Saône. It is a summit level canal of Freycinet gauge connecting the valleys of the Marne and the Saône rivers. It is the extension to the Saône of the former Canal de la Haute-Marne which it has incorporated.

Orconte Airfield

Orconte Airfield is an abandoned World War II military airfield, which is located near the commune of Orconte in the Marne department of northern France. Located probably north of the commune, it was a United States Army Air Force temporary airfield established during the Northern France Campaign in September 1944. Its primary use was for P-47 Thunderbolt fighters of the Ninth Air Force 354th Fighter Group.

Saulx (river)

The Saulx is a 115 km long river in France, right tributary of the Marne. Its source is near the village Germisay. It flows generally northwest, through the following départements and towns: Haute-Marne: Effincourt Meuse: Montiers-sur-Saulx, Stainville Marne: Sermaize-les-Bains, Pargny-sur-Saulx, Vitry-le-François The Saulx flows into the Marne in Vitry-le-François. Its main tributaries are the Ornain and the Chée.

Lake Der-Chantecoq

Lake Der-Chantecoq is situated close to the commune of Saint-Dizier in the departments of Marne and Haute-Marne. It is the largest artificial lake in Western Europe, covering 48 km² with 350 million m³ of water. The lake is named after the Der plain, in which it is located, and the submerged village Chantecoq. The lake is fed by a 12 km long canal that branches off the river Marne in Saint-Dizier.
