Battle of Cocherel

The Battle of Cocherel was fought on 16 May 1364 between the forces of Charles V of France and the forces of Charles II of Navarre (known as Charles the Bad), over the succession to the dukedom of Burgundy. The king of France's forces were led by Bertrand du Guesclin, though Jean, Count of Auxerre was the highest-ranking noble present. There were knights from Burgundy, Breton, Picard, Parisian and Gascon people.

Château du Houssoy

The Château du Houssoy is a ruined 14th and 15th century castle in the commune of Crouy-sur-Ourcq in the Seine-et-Marne département of France. It has been listed since twice as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture. One wing furnished with machicolations, extending along the Avenue de la Gare, was listed in 1932. The keep and the gabled wall of the former house, including its chimneys, were added in 1962.

Petit Morin

The Petit Morin is an 86 km-long river in France, a left tributary of the Marne. Its source is in the commune Val-des-Marais. Its course crosses the departments of Marne, Aisne and Seine-et-Marne. It flows westwards through the towns of Montmirail, Villeneuve-sur-Bellot, Saint-Cyr-sur-Morin and Jouarre, finally flowing into the Marne in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre.

La Ferté-sous-Jouarre memorial

The La Ferté-sous-Jouarre memorial is a World War I memorial in France, located on the south bank of the River Marne, on the outskirts of the commune of La Ferté-sous-Jouarre, 66 kilometres east of Paris, in the department of Seine-et-Marne. Also known as the Memorial to the Missing of the Marne, it commemorates over 3,700 British and Irish soldiers with no known grave, who fell in battle in this area in August, September and early October 1914.
