Corbeil Cathedral

Corbeil Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Spire de Corbeil) in the town of Corbeil-Essonnes was the interim cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Évry–Corbeil-Essonnes. The bishop's seat was established at the foundation of the new diocese in 1966 in the parish church of Saint Spire in Corbeil, which thus became the cathedral.

Essonne (river)

The Essonne is a 97 km long French river. It is a tributary off the left bank of the Seine. Its course crosses the departments of Loiret and Essonne, and it gives its name to the latter. The Essone's name and the present name of its higher course originate in Acionna, a Gallo-Roman river goddess attested at Orléans (Genabum).
