Interesting facts about this location

Pont Marengo

The Pont Marengo (Marengo bridge) crosses the Canal du Midi and links Carcassonne to the local railway station. The lock is very busy and a favourite tourist attraction as the canal boats work their way along the canal. The plaque on the bridge dates the work to 1800 or as it also says year 8, measuring time in the new republic. The bridge is named after the Battle of Marengo at which Napoleon defeated the Austrians in 1800.

Gare de Narbonne

Narbonne is a railway station in Narbonne, Languedoc-Roussillon, France. The station opened on 22 April 1857 and is located on the Bordeaux–Sète railway and Narbonne–Portbou railway. The station is served by EuroCity (international), TGV (high speed), Intercités (long distance, also night train) and TER (local) services operated by the SNCF. The line was electrified through Narbonne in 1935.

Carcassonne Cathedral

Carcassonne Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Michel de Carcassonne) is a cathedral and designated national monument in Carcassonne, France. It is the seat of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Carcassonne. The building was built in the thirteenth-century as a parish church, dedicated to Saint Michael. Following war damage in the fourteenth century it was subsequently rebuilt as a fortified church.

Stade d'Albert Domec

Stade d'Albert Domec is a multi-use stadium in Carcassonne, France. It has a capacity of 10,000 spectators, and is used mostly for rugby league and rugby union matches.
