Jardin exotique de Ponteilla

The Jardin exotique de Ponteilla (3 hectares) is a botanical garden located on the Route de Nyls, Ponteilla, Pyrénées-Orientales, Languedoc-Roussillon, France. It is open in the warmer months; an admission fee is charged. The garden was created in 1991 on a former vineyard, and opened to the public in 1994. Today it contains more than 1,800 varieties of plants from around the world, including cactus, bamboo, palm trees, eucalyptus, and carnivorous plants.

Château de Castelnou

The Château de Castelnou (also called the Château Vicomtal) is a medieval castle in the commune of Castelnou in the French département of Pyrénées-Orientales. The village of Castelnou takes its name from the castle. The Latin castellum novum became in Catalan castell nou, the "new castle".

Rosselló

The comarca of Roussillon is a historical Catalan comarca of Northern Catalonia, now part of the French Département of Pyrénées-Orientales. Its capital is Perpignan . Rosselló has an extension of 1.498 km². In 1990, Rosselló had a population of 303. 850 inhabitants, with a density of 202´8 people per km². It comprises most of the historic county and province of Roussillon.

Northern Catalonia

Northern Catalonia is a term that is sometimes used, particularly in Catalan writings, to refer to the territory ceded to France by Spain through the signing of the Treaty of the Pyrenees in 1659. The area corresponds approximately to the modern French département of the Pyrénées-Orientales. The equivalent term in French, Catalogne Nord, is used nowadays, although less often than the more politically neutral Roussillon. Sometimes French Catalonia can also be used.

LGV Perpignan–Figueres

The LGV Perpignan–Figueres is an international high-speed rail line between France and Spain. The line connects two cities on opposite sides of the border, Perpignan in Roussillon, France, and Figueres in Catalonia, Spain. It consists of a 44.4-kilometre line which crosses the French–Spanish border via the 8.3-kilometre Perthus Tunnel bored under the Perthus Pass.
