Its name refers to the Désert, the period between the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes and the Edict of Toleration (1685-1787) during which Protestantism was illegal in France. Parc botanique de la Tour Vieille
The Parc botanique de la Tour Vieille is a municipal park with botanical collections, located at the Hôtel de Ville in Alès, Gard, Languedoc-Roussillon, France. It is open daily without charge. The park was created by an amateur landscaper, but abandoned for some years before its acquisition by the city in 1973.
