Mont Aigoual

Mont Aigoual (Occitan: Mont Augal, elevation 1567m / 5141 ft) is the highest point of the Gard département, France. It is part of the Massif Central, and it is located within the Cévennes National Park. Its southern slopes are the source of the river Hérault flowing into the Mediterranean. When the sky is clear, it is possible to see the Mediterranean Sea, the Pyrenees, and also the Alps and Mont Blanc in particular.

Musée du Désert

Le Musée du Désert is a museum dedicated to the history of Protestantism in France, particularly in the Cévennes. Its name refers to the Désert, the period between the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes and the Edict of Toleration (1685-1787) during which Protestantism was illegal in France. The museum, formerly the house of the Camisard leader, Roland Laporte, is situated at Mas Soubeyran, in the commune of Mialet, département Gard, not far from Alès and Nîmes.

Vis (river)

The Vis is a 57.9 km long river in south-central France, in the Languedoc-Roussillon région, right tributary of the Hérault River. Its source is in the Cévennes, near the village of Alzon. It flows between the Causse du Larzac and the Causse de Blandas into the Hérault département and the Gard département. The Vis flows into the Hérault River near Ganges.
