Château de Lichtenberg

The Château de Lichtenberg is a castle built on a singular prominence in the northern Vosges in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace in northeastern France. The castle was built in the 13th century by the Hanau-Lichtenberg family, and was in the center of a constantly shifting territory, which traded hands many times until the Franco-Prussian War in 1870, when it was partly destroyed by artillery fire and the resulting fires. It was left to deteriorate for 120 years.
