RCAF Station Grostenquin

RCAF Station Grostenquin, also known as 2 (Fighter) Wing or 2 Wing, was a Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) station located five km north of the town of Grostenquin in the Moselle department, Lorraine, northeastern France. It was one of four RCAF wings, consisting of three fighter squadrons each, established in Europe in the early 1950s at the beginning of the Cold War.

Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial

The Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, is located just outside of Saint-Avold, Moselle, France. It covers 113.5 acres and contains 10,849 graves, the largest number of any American World War II cemetery in Europe. Those interred died mostly in the autumn of 1944 during the drive to the Siegfried Line as the Americans sought to expel the Germans; they were mainly part of the U.S. Third and Seventh Armies. The cemetery is administered by the American Battle Monuments Commission.

Blies

The Blies is a right tributary of the Saar in southwestern Germany and northeastern France. The Blies flows from three springs in the Hunsrück near Selbach, Germany. It is approximately 100 km long, ending in the French city of Sarreguemines. It flows through Sankt Wendel, Neunkirchen, and Blieskastel (one of several towns named after the river). Its lower course forms the border between France and Germany.
