In southern France, the village is well known for the psychiatric hospital, "Centre hospitalier de Montfavet" located on the Mont de Vergues. Camille Claudel was a patient in this hospital. Georges-Ernest Roux (1903-1981), a postman who lived in Montfavet, founded the Universal Christian Church, claimed to be Jesus, and was famous under the name "Christ of Montfavet".

Avignon
Avignon is a French commune in southeastern France in the départment of the Vaucluse bordered by the left bank of the Rhône river.
