GKK Etzenricht, abbreviation for Gleichstromkurzkupplung Etzenricht, that means Etzenricht HVDC-back-to-back station was an HVDC back-to-back facility near Etzenricht in the district of Neustadt in Bavaria, Germany. It was built up on area of Etzenricht substation, a 380 kV/220 kV/110 kV-substation, which went in service in 1970 and expanded afterwards several times.

German Continental Deep Drilling Program

The German Continental Deep Drilling Program (in German Kontinentales Tiefbohrprogramm der Bundesrepublik Deutschland), abbreviated as the KTB borehole, has been a scientific drilling project from 1987 to 1995 near Windischeschenbach, Bavaria. The main superdeep borehole has reached a depth of 9101 meter into the Earth's continental crust. The project was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research with 528 million Deutschmark (270 million Euro).
