Ansbach (district)

Ansbach is a district in Bavaria, Germany. It is surrounding, but not including the city of Ansbach; nonetheless the administrative seat of the district is Ansbach. It is the district with the biggest area in Bavaria. The district is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) the districts Ostalbkreis, Schwäbisch Hall and Main-Tauber (all in the state of Baden-Württemberg), and the districts of Neustadt (Aisch)-Bad Windsheim, Fürth, Roth, Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen and Donau-Ries.

Ansbach University of Applied Sciences

The Ansbach University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1996 and counts approximately 1,800 students (2008). It belongs to the newest Universities of Applied Sciences of the Free State of Bavaria. The percentage of foreign students is about 6 percent. As of 2010 there are 2,300 students. Beginning with the winter semester 2006/07 the so called Bologna Process was implemented. Therefore all academic programs with the German degree “Diplom (FH)” were replaced by bachelor programs.

St. Johannis, Ansbach

The church St. Johannis (St. John) in Ansbach, Middle Franconia, Germany, is a Lutheran parish church and a concert venue of the Bachwoche Ansbach, and the St. Gumbertus and Residenz Ansbach are also located.

St. Gumbertus, Ansbach

The church St. Gumbertus is one of the central city churches of Ansbach, Bavaria, together with the neighboring St. Johannis. Located in the Altstadt (old town) of Ansbach, St. Gumbertus, now a Lutheran church, was originally the church of a monastery that was founded by St. Gumbert around 750. Today it serves as a venue for concerts of the music festival Bachwoche Ansbach. The church contains the oldest structures in Ansbach and is considered Ansbach's city symbol.
