Dünsberg

Dünsberg is a mountain slightly northwest of Gießen in Hesse, Germany. On the southern slope of the hill, grave mounds were found from the Neolithic and the Bronze Age. Fortification systems of the hill are detectable from the Urnfield period (8th century BC). The Celtic settlement reached its height during the La Tene period (about the 3rd century BC).

Waldgirmes Forum

The Roman Forum of Lahnau-Waldgirmes (German: Das Römische Forum Lahnau-Waldgirmes) is a fortified Roman trading place, located at the edge of the modern village Waldgirmes, part of Lahnau on the Lahn, Hesse, Germany. The site has the oldest known stone buildings in Magna Germania.

Giessen nappe

The Giessen nappe is a tectonic nappe in the southeastern part of the Rhenish Massif in western Germany. The nappe is an "alien" unit in the Rhenohercynian zone of the Hercynian orogeny, it was thrusted over the usual slightly metamorphosed Devonian and Carboniferous sedimentary rocks in this zone. The Giessen nappe is often correlated with the Harz nappe in the Harz and similar units in the Bohemian Massif in the Czech Republic.

Lohra (megalithic tomb)

The Lohra tomb (German: Steinkammergrab von Lohra) was a megalithic monument outside Lohra near Marburg in north central Hesse, Germany. It is one of the lesser known among its type in Central Europe. It dates to the late Neolithic, probably just after 3000 BC. It belongs to the gallery graves of the Wartberg culture, but is unique among them because of its rich ceramic assemblage.
