The pit Konrad (Schacht Konrad) is a former iron ore mine proposed as a deep geological repository for medium- and low level radioactive waste in the city Salzgitter in the Metropolitan region Hannover-Braunschweig-Göttingen-Wolfsburg in southeast Lower Saxony, Germany, located between Hildesheim and Braunschweig. It has two shafts : Konrad I and Konrad II.

Federal Agricultural Research Centre

The Federal Agricultural Research Center (FAL) (German: Bundesforschungsanstalt für Landwirtschaft) was a federal authority of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. On January 1, 2008, FAL was split into Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute, the Julius Kuehn Institute and the Friedrich Loeffler Institute.

Salder House

Salder House is a stately home in the Renaissance style in Salder, a village in the borough of Salzgitter in Lower Saxony. It was built in 1608 for the lords of Saldern by master builder, Paul Francke, by order of Kriegsrat David Sachses of Wolfenbüttel. In 1695, the heir to the throne, Augustus William of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel bought the complex and had major restoration work carried out on it.

Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt

The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is based in Braunschweig (Brunswick) and Berlin. It is the national institute for natural and engineering sciences and the highest technical authority for metrology and physical safety engineering in Germany. Part of its brief is the accurate measurement of time. It is responsible for four German caesium atomic clocks, CS1, CS2, CSF1 and CSF2, and the longwave time signal DCF77.
