Schulzentrum Saterland

Schulzentrum Saterland (SZS) is a general education day school in Lower Ramsloh, Saterland, in Lower Saxony, Germany, established in 1971. The school's name in their native Sater Frisian is "Grote Skoul fon't Seelterlound," the "Great School of Saterland. " The school consists of both a high school and junior high school. The Laurentius-Siemer-Gymnasium is currently (as of 2007) being constructed on the same site.

Esterwegen concentration camp

The Esterwegen concentration camp near Esterwegen was an early nazi concentration camp within a series of camps first established in the Emsland district of Germany. It was established in the summer of 1933 as an concentration camp for 2000 so called political "Schutzhäftlinge" and was for a time the second largest concentration camp to Dachau. The camp was closed in summer of 1936. Until 1945 the camp was used as a prison camp.

VLF transmitter DHO38

The VLF transmitter DHO38 is a VLF transmitter used by the German Navy near Rhauderfehn, Saterland, Germany. It is used to transmit coded orders to submarines of the German Navy and navies of other NATO countries. DHO38 has transmitted since 1982 on 23.4 kHz with a power of up to 800 kilowatts. DHO38 uses an umbrella aerial, which is carried from 8 steel tube masts with a height of 352.8 metres.
