The Trebel is a river in Vorpommern, a region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, some 75 kilometer long. The Poggendorfer Trebel, Beek are the sources of the river and merge in Grimmen. The Trebel then runs near Quitzin, merges to Blinde Trebel near Franzburg, is connected to the Recknitz River by a ditch near Tribsees, merges with Warbel River near Bassendorf, then constitutes the historical border between Mecklenburg and Pomerania, and merges into the Peene River near Demmin.

Battle of Verchen
The Battle of Verchen (German: Schlacht bei Verchen) was a battle between Saxons and West Slavic Obotrites on 6 July 1164. The Obotrites were attacked by Saxons and Danes in 1160, resulting in the death of the Obotrite prince, Niklot, and the partition of the Obotrite lands. Niklot's son Pribislav rose in revolt in 1163, capturing the castles of Malchow and Quetzin.
