Trier-Saarburg
Trier-Saarburg is a district in the west of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from the north and clockwise) Bitburg-Prüm, Bernkastel-Wittlich, Birkenfeld, Sankt Wendel (Saarland), and Merzig-Wadern (Saarland). To the west it borders Luxembourg. The district-free city Trier is completely surrounded by the district.

Ruwer (Verbandsgemeinde)
Ruwer is a Verbandsgemeinde with 18,014 inhabitants (Dez. 2008) on the river Ruwer near Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is famous for the wine from the wine-growing region Mosel, which previously was called Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, and which was founded by the Romans. The administrative seat (formerly located in Ruwer, which was an independent municipality until it was incorporated into the city Trier) is located in Waldrach since November 2005.

University of Trier
The University of Trier, in the German city of Trier, was founded in 1473. Closed in 1798 by order of the then French administration in Trier, the university was re-established in 1970 after a hiatus of some 172 years. The new university campus is located on top of the Tarforst heights, an urban district on the outskirts of the city. The university has six faculties with around 470 faculty members.

St. Matthias' Abbey
St. Matthias' Abbey is a Benedictine monastery in Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The abbey church, a Romanesque basilica, is a renowned place of pilgrimage because of the tomb of Saint Matthias the Apostle, after whom the abbey is named, located here since the 12th century, and the only burial of an apostle in Germany and north of the Alps. The abbey was originally named after Saint Eucharius, first Bishop of Trier, whose tomb is in the crypt.
