Wethau (Saale)

The Wethau is a river which springs from Hohendorf, Holzlandkreis and runs through Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. It flows into the River Saale at Schellsitz, Burgenlandkreis. The River Wethau falls 229,9 m and is 30 km long.

Goseck circle

The Goseck circle is a Neolithic structure in Goseck in the Burgenlandkreis district in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is the oldest and best known of the so-called Circular Enclosures associated with the Central European Neolithic It consists of a set of concentric ditches 75 metres (246 feet) across and two palisade rings containing gates in places aligned with sunrise and sunset on the solstice days. The Goseck circle is the oldest known structure with this type of astronomical alignment.
