Elster Viaduct (Pirk)
The Elster Viaduct near Pirk (Hof) is one of the most unusual motorway bridges in Germany. The building of this bridge began in 1937, but was stopped in 1940 due to the chaos created by World War II. Since this bridge then was in the restricted area of the East Germany, construction was not restarted until 1990. In June 1990 preliminary investigations began, and finally in September 1990 the building of the bridge began anew. In August 1993 the bridge was opened to traffic.

Mödlareuth is a German village situated partly in Bavaria and partly in Thuringia. The northern part was in East Germany and the southern part in West Germany. The Thuringian part of the village belongs to Gefell while the Bavarian part belongs to Töpen. It was called Little Berlin by the Americans because a wall divided it, like the Berlin Wall divided Berlin. Now a museum shows the history of the village and gives information about the political system at that time.

Botanischer Garten der Stadt Hof
The Botanischer Garten der Stadt Hof is a municipal botanical garden located in the Theresienstein park, at Alte Plauener Strasse 16, Hof, Bavaria, Germany. It is open daily in the warmer months without charge. The garden started sometime before 1929 as a municipal garden for teaching students, and from 1929-1932 was developed as a botanical garden by city gardener Rudolf Hutschenreiter. During World War II, it was used primarily for vegetables.
