Saronic Islands

Hellenic Navy

The Hellenic Navy (HN) (Greek: Πολεμικό Ναυτικό, Polemikó Naftikó, abbreviated ΠΝ) is the naval force of Greece, part of the Greek Armed Forces. The modern Greek navy has its roots in the naval forces of various Aegean Islands, which fought in the Greek War of Independence. During the periods of monarchy (1833–1924 and 1936–1973) it was known as the Royal Navy (Βασιλικόν Ναυτικόν, Vasilikón Naftikón, abbreviated ΒΝ).

Salamis Bay

Salamis Bay is a bay in Greece that connects with the Saronic Gulf to the west. The total length is approximately 10 km long from north east to west and about 4 km wide from north to south. It begins from the northwesternmost tip down to Cape Petritis. Villages by the gulf include Aianteio (or Eantio). The mountains encircle the bay except for the open waters to the west. The road linking with places in the south of the island lie to the east and another further north.
