Lake Kerkini
Lake Kerkini, is an artificial reservoir that was created in 1932, and then redeveloped in 1980, on the site of what was previously an extremely extensive marshland. Before 1932, there were irregular marsh lakes on Strymon, one of them called "Podkova" Ottoman Turkish: ݒودقوه كولي Podkova Gölü http://pds. lib. harvard. edu/pds/view/4952983?n=17 became the mother of Kerkini.

Tumba Peak (Belasica)
Tumba is a peak in the Belasica mountains in the region of Macedonia. The peak, 1,880 metres in height, lies on Belasica's main ridge, west of Lozen Peak and east of Sechena Skala Peak. A dome-shaped mountain with steep southern and northern slopes, Tumba is covered with low subalpine vegetation and is made of metamorphic rock. Tumba is notable as the point where the national borders of Bulgaria, Greece and the Republic of Macedonia meet.

Klyuch
Klyuch (Bulgarian: Ключ, "key"; also transliterated Кључ, Ključ, Kliuch, Kljuch, etc. ), in Medieval Greek known as Kleidion and in Latin known as Clidium, is a village in south-westernmost Bulgaria, part of Petrich municipality, Blagoevgrad Province. It lies at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:41|22|N|23|1|E||| | |name= }}, 455 metres above sea level. As of 2005, it has a population of 1,113 and the mayor is Hristo Markov.

Battle of Kleidion
The Battle of Kleidion (or Clidium, after the medieval name of the village of Klyuch, " key"; also known as the Battle of Belasitsa) took place on July 29, 1014 between the Bulgarian Empire and the Byzantine Empire. It was the culmination of the nearly half-century struggle between the Bulgarian Emperor Samuel and the Byzantine Emperor Basil II in the late 10th and early 11th centuries. The result was a decisive Byzantine victory.
