Gialova

Gialova is a village on Navarino Bay in south-western Peloponnese, Greece about six kilometres north of Pylos. The name derives from Greek αιγιαλός - γιαλός (shore) and Turkish ova (lowland), i.e. "lowland shore".

Battle of Navarino

The naval Battle of Navarino was fought on 20 October 1827, during the Greek War of Independence (1821–32), in Navarino Bay, on the west coast of the Peloponnese peninsula, in the Ionian Sea. An Ottoman armada, which, in addition to imperial warships, included squadrons from the eyalets (provinces) of Egypt, Tunis and Algiers, was destroyed by an Allied force of British, French and Russian vessels.

Battle of Zonchio

The naval Battle of Zonchio (also known as the Battle of Sapienza or the First Battle of Lepanto) took place on four separate days: August 12, 20, 22 and 25, 1499. It was a part of the Ottoman–Venetian War of 1499–1503. It was the first naval battle in history where cannons were used on ships.

Vlachopoulo

Vlachopoulo is the central village of the municipality of Papaflessas in the center of Messenia, Greece. The village is located 38 km from the capital of the prefecture Kalamata and just 20 km from the nearest beach. Vlachopoulo is a rural village, the main products are olives, raisins and grapes. The village is famous for the festival of which every year become the Holy Spirit.
