Araxos Airport

Araxos Airport/Aerodrome is a Greek international military / civilian airport located near Araxos cape, Achaea Prefecture and serves the city of Patras as well as the western part of the Peloponese region. It is also known as Araxos National Airport. or Agamemnon Airport. It serves (primarily) as an active air base for the Hellenic Air Force, with some civilian services to Europe in the summer months.

Dymaean Wall

The Dymaean Wall or Kalogria Castle is a prehistoric acropolis in western Achaea, Greece. The fortress stands in a strategic position on a rocky hilltop, north of the Prokopos lagoon, near the village Araxos. It was built in the Mycenaean period, probably around 1300 BC, but human occupation of the site started already around 3500 BC. It was deserted in the 18th century.

2008 Peloponnese earthquake

The 2008 Peloponnese earthquake was a deadly earthquake that killed two people, injured more than 220 and left at least 2,000 people homeless in north western Peloponese, Greece, on June 8, 2008. The earthquake hit the area at 1525 EET (1325 UTC), with a moment magnitude of 6.5, according to the Athens Geodynamic Institute. It was strongly felt as far away as in Athens and in parts of southern Italy. The US Geological Survey reported that the quake had a magnitude of 6.4.

Larissos (river)

Larissos (Greek: Λάρισσος, also Riolitiko) is a river in the western part of Achaea, southern Greece. Its source is on the western slope of the Movri hills, near the village Mataragka. It flows through the Prokopos lagoon, and empties into the Ionian Sea in the village Kalogria. Other villages along its course are Kagkadi, Apideonas and Lappas. Its complete course lies within the municipal unit Larissos, which took its name from the river.

Movri

Movri is a mountain range in western Achaea, Greece. It covers part of the municipal units Movri, Dymi and Olenia. It is located about 30 km SW of Patras, W of Chalandritsa, NE of Amaliada and Pyrgos, SE of the Ionian Sea and S of the Gulf of Patras. The mountain range has several mountaintops. The tallest is about 660 m. The second is to the west and another summit with an elevation of around 500 m is to the southwest.
