Thermos (also known as Thermon or Thermum) was an ancient Greek sanctuary, which served as the regular meeting place of the Aetolian League. Argyro Pigadi is a village in the municipality of Thermo, western Greece, in the region of Oreini Trichonida. The village is located near the second highest peak of the Panaitoliko mountain range, Triantafyllia. Nearby villages include Amvrakia, Nerochori, Kokkinovrysi, and Kastania. The name Argyro Pigadi means Silver Well, a reference to the abundance of water in the region.

Lake Trichonida
Lake Trichonida is the largest natural lake in Greece. It is situated in the eastern part of Aetolia-Acarnania, southeast of the town Agrinio and northwest of Nafpaktos. It covers an area of 98.6 square kilometres with a maximum length of 19 kilometres and maximum depth of 58 metres . One million years ago the lake was much larger, and covered the central part of Aetolia-Acarnania, a part that is now a plain. The Panaitoliko mountains are situated to the north and northeast of the lake.

Trichonida Province was one of the provinces of the Aetolia-Acarnania Prefecture, Greece. Its territory corresponded with that of the current municipalities Agrinio and Thermo. It was abolished in 2006.
