Bissagos Islands

The Bissagos Islands, also spelled Bijagós Islands as in its Portuguese name are a group of about 88 islands and islets located in the Atlantic Ocean and are part of the African nation of Guinea-Bissau. The archipelago was formed from the ancient delta of the Rio Geba and the Rio Grande and spans an area of 2,624 km (1,184 sq. miles).

Bubaque

Bubaque is one of the Bijagós Islands in Guinea-Bissau, and is also the name of its main town. Population 9,244 (2008 est). The island is known for its wildlife and is heavily forested. It is linked by ferry to Bissau and has an airstrip.
