Hosororo

Hosororo is a community in the Barima-Waini region of northern Guyana, on the west bank of the Aruka River, 10 km from the river's mouth, and three miles from Mabaruma. It is known for its production of organic cocoa and is home to a nursery and propagation centre. http://www. agrinetguyana. org. gy/nari/locations/#hosororo. Originally an Arawak village known for its fertile soils, it is the earliest known site of cassava cultivation by Amerindians in Guyana, dating back some 3,850 years.

Waini River

The Waini River is a river in the Barima-Waini region of northern Guyana. It flows into the Atlantic Ocean near the border with Venezuela. The upper portion of the river flows through the Guianian moist forests, while the lower Waini river flows through the eastern extent of the vast Orinoco Delta swamp forests before it empties into the sea. Almond Beach is located at the mouth of the Waini River.

Kamwatta Hill

Kamwatta Hill is a community in the Barima-Waini Region, in northern Guyana, at an altitude of 34 m (114 feet). Its population is approximately 600 http://www. gina. gov. gy/archive/daily/b040207. html. The community began receiving electricity in 2006, when a diesel-powered generator was donated by Mr. Monty Niathally, proprietor of Variety Woods and Greenheart Limited.

Shell Beach, Guyana

Shell Beach, located on the Atlantic coast of Guyana in the Barima-Waini Region, near the Venezuelan border, is a nesting site for four of the eight sea turtle species - the Green, Hawksbill turtleill, Leatherback and the Olive Ridley. Shell Beach extends for approximately 140 km. Turtles used to be slaughtered for their meat and eggs but are now part of a non-governmental conservation program.
