Île à Vache (French, also expressed Île-à-Vaches, former Spanish name Isla Vaca, both translated as Cow Island) is a small Caribbean island lying off the south-west peninsula of Haiti near the town of Les Cayes. Sud Department

Sud (English: South, Haitian Creole: Sid) is one of the ten departments of Haiti. It has an area of 2,794 square kilometres and a population of 745,000 (2002). Its capital is Les Cayes. A significant part of the population in this department is of mixed race, people of Arabs descent and from the Indian subcontinent.

Zanglais is a rural area in the commune of Saint Louis du Sud, population of approximately 7,860. There are approximately 4,103 males and 3,757 females. The makeup of the population comprises 4,226 adults 18 years and older and the remainder 17 years and younger which is approximately 3,634. Zanglais has no public schools or a community clinic. There is a subtantial amount of unschooled children and the majority of the population are in need of some sort of medical attention.
