Sud (English: South, Haitian Creole: Sid) is one of the ten departments of Haiti. It has an area of 2,794 square kilometres and a population of 745,000 (2002). Its capital is Les Cayes. Cavaellon

Cavaellon is a rural town located in the Sud Department of Haiti. Its nearest neighbouring towns/cities are Nan Cotie (12km north), Saint-Louis-du-Sud (20km southeast), and Les Cayes (16km west). The town is most famous for being the birthplace of both Benito Martínez Abrogán, Cuba's oldest-ever person, and George Valris, a famous Caribbean artist.
