Velanadu

Velandu is the ancient name of the coastal region on the banks of River Krishna in the Guntur District and include Chirala area of District-Prakasam. The terms Velandu or velnadu connote outer area (Velupala Prantham) in Telugu. Ref: Manual of Krishna District . In contrast the interior area around Amaravathi on the banks of Krishna was referred to as 'Kroranadu' or 'Kronnatavati', meaning krotha nadu i.e. newly inhabited area.
