Kongad is a medium-sized town in Palakkad district in the South Indian state of Kerala, and is 20 km north-west of Palakkad town. Nearby towns include Karimpuzha in the west, Mannarakkad in the north, Mundur in the east and Lakkidi and Mankara in the south. The nearest airport is at Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu state. Palakkad Junction railway station

Palakkad Junction is second largest railway station in Kerala state, India situated in the city of Palakkad. It is located at 4 km from Palakkad Municipal Bus Terminus. The station falls in the Palakkad railway division of the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. Palakkad Junction is the terminating point for the Palakkad-Pollachi rail line. The other station serving the city is Palakkad Town Railway Station.

Mankurussi

Mankurussi or Mankurissi is a small town near Palakkad in the state of Kerala in southern India. It is in the mid-way between Palakkad and Ottapalam, located 17 KM from Palakkad town in the Palakkad-Ponnani State Highway. It is a very green and picturesque village located on the banks of river Bharathapuzha. Mankurussi finds place even in some very old books and the word 'Mankurussi' means 'The Birthplace of Great men' (as quoted by a famous saint).

Puthur-Vela

Puthur Vela is an annual festival at the Puthur Thirupuraikkal Bhagavathy temple, located in Puthur, Kerala, India. The temple houses the Goddess Karnaki, who is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Parvathi. This temple is famous locally and attracts several hundred devotees every year. The Kadhana vedi (firecrackers) are set off at 6 pm everyday after the evening pooja. The festival is conducted during the month of April.
