Charik is a village in Moga district of East Punjab (Indian Punjab). It is one of the largest villages of Punjab by population. A young man of the village, Lakhvir Singh, got martyrdom in an encounter, between the security forces and militants, in Sopore district of Jammu and Kashmir in February 2010. Battle of Mudki

The Battle of Mudki was fought on 18 December 1845, between the forces of the British East India Company and part of the Khalsa, the army of the Sikh Empire of the Punjab. The British army won an untidy encounter battle, suffering heavy casualties.
