Pamban

Pamban is a town in the Rameswaram taluk of Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu. It is located at the western edge of Pamban Island and is a popular fishing port. The town gives its name to the whole island. Pamban railway station is the first station on the island for pilgrims travelling to Rameswaram.

Pamban Bridge

The Pamban Bridge is a cantilever bridge on the Palk Strait connects Rameswaram on Pamban Island to mainland India. It refers to both the road bridge and the cantilever railway bridge, though primarily it means the latter. It was India's first sea bridge. It is the second longest sea bridge in India at a length of about 2.3 km.

Thiruvarur

Thiruvarur /θɪrʊvɑːruːr/ also spelt as Tiruvarur is a town and municipality in Tiruvarur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the administrative headquarters of Tiruvarur district. The town was one of the five traditional capitals of the Chola empire, with one of the emperors of the dynasty, Kulothunga Chola I, having it as his capital.

Pamban Island

Pamban Island, also known as Rameswaram Island, is an island located between peninsular India and Sri Lanka. The island is a part of India and forms the Rameswaram taluk of the Ramanathapuram district of the state of Tamil Nadu. The principal town in the island is the pilgrimage centre of Rameswaram.

Sepia thurstoni

Sepia thurstoni is a species of cuttlefish native to the Indian Ocean, specifically the waters off Chennai in India and off Negombo and Hambantota in Sri Lanka. It lives at depths of 20 to 40 m. S. thurstoni grows to a mantle length of 110 mm. The type specimen was collected off Ramesvaram Island in the Bay of Bengal and is deposited at The Natural History Museum in London. It is named after Edgar Thurston.
