Yusif ibn Kuseyir Mausoleum

The Mausoleum of Yusif ibn Kuseyir was built in 1161–1162, in Nakchivan city. Architect of the mausoleum was Ajami ibn Abubakr Nakhchivani. This small octagonal building was constructed from baked brick and finished with a pyramid shaped roof. There is a large line with ligature written in kufi script from Quran on the top of the mausoleum. The western edge of the mausoleum slightly differs.

Nakhchivan (city)

The city of Nakhchivan is the capital of the eponymous Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, located 450 km west of Baku. The municipality of Nakhchivan consists of the city of Nakhchivan and the villages of Başbaşı, Qarağalıq, and Daşduz. It is spread over the foothills of Zangezur chain, on the right bank of the Nakhchivan River at an altitude of almost 1000 m.
