Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University

Shahid Madani University of Azerbaijan, commonly called only Azerbaijan University, was founded on 1987 in Tabriz as a branch of Tehran Teacher Education University. On 1988 Azerbaijan University became an independent university . The initial objective of the university was to training teachers in different area for the fulfillment of Iranian government educational development policies. The major concern of the university was focused on training teachers for high schools and technical schools.

Abarshahr

Abarshahr was a satrapy (province) of the Sassanid Empire. The population was supported by the Hari river, which was used for irrigation. Strabo cited the regions abundant wine-production. Cities in the region were Candac, Artacauan, and Apameia, and Pushang, among others. The capital was a vital point of administration and of communications toward Bactria, India, and Sagistan. The region was involved in the Indian and Chinese trade. Its governor bore the unique title of kanarang.

Aji Chay

Aji Chay, or Talkheh-Rūd, is a river in north-western Iran. Most of it is situated in the East Azerbaijan Province. Its water is alkali due to passing from the lands with high mineralization. It is the largest river that discharges into Lake Urmia. It arises above Sarab from the slopes of Mount Bozgush and Mount Sabalan. Its tributary, the sweet water Quri River (Ghouri or Meydan Chayi), joins the Aji just northeast of central Tabriz.

Bavil

Bavil is a village outside the metropolitan of Tabriz, Iran, in the East Azerbaijan Province. The village itself is officially divided into a north and a south part named Olya and Sofla, respectively. It was named after a French settler.
