Khavaran cemetery

Khavaran cemetery is a cemetery located in southeast Tehran. Khavaran was a traditional burial ground for religious minorities, "on the grounds that they were apostates and must not contaminate the resting place of Muslims. " During the the 1988 executions of Iranian political prisoners committed by the Islamic Republic of Iran, the government used Khavaran as the site of unmarked mass graves for those killed.

Bibi Shahr Banu Shrine

Bibi Shahr Banu Shrine is a shrine located near Shahr-e Ray, a southern suburb of Tehran, Iran. The shrine is located outside the present town on the slope of a small mountain range extending eastwards, known by the name of Mount Tabarak or Kuh-e Ray or also Kuh-e Bibi Sharbanu. The oldest parts of the shrine date from the 15th century, shortly before the Safavid period.

Shahrbanu

Shahrbānū (or Shahr Banu), is a personage described to have been one of the daughters of Yazdegerd III, the last Emperor of the Sassanid dynasty of Persia/Iran. Other names by which she has been referred to include: Shaharbānawayh, Shahzanān, Salāma, Salāfa, Ghazāla, Salama, and Sādira. Shahrbānū was one of the wives of Husayn ibn Ali, and the mother of Ali ibn Husayn (the fourth Twelver Shī`a Imām).
