Mawat, Kurdistan
Mawat is a town located to the north of Sulaymaniyah and to the southeast of Lake Dukan in Iraqi Kurdistan. Mawat is a small town. It has been rebuilt to the south of Old Mawat (Mawata Kon in Kurdish). Mawat locals tell a story of the town being destroyed 300 years ago by the Ottoman Empire.
