Iskandariya

Al-Iskandariya or Alexandria (الإسكندرية, also given as Iskandariyah, Iskanderiyah, Iskanderiya, Iskanderiyeh or Sikandariyeh or Al Askandariyah) is an ancient city in central Iraq, one of a number of towns in the Near East named after Alexander the Great. It is largely populated by Shia and Sunni Muslims, and is located about 25 miles (40 km) south of Baghdad, near the Euphrates River.

Al-Iskandariyah New Air Base

Al-Iskandariyah New Air Base is a former Iraqi Air Force base in the Babil Governorate of Iraq. It was seized by Coalition forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.

Musayyib

Musayyib is a city in the Babil Province, Iraq. As of 2003, its population is 279,939. Musayyib sits on both the east and west banks of the Euphrates River, which splits into the Hindiya and Hilla branches just south of the city. Musayyib's municipal government has heavy representation from the Office of the Martyr Sadr, the political wing of Moqtada Sadr's Militia. There is a small minority representation by the Badr Corps as well.

2005 Musayyib bombing

The 2005 Musayyib bombing was a suicide attack on a marketplace in Musayyib, Iraq, a town 35 miles south of Baghdad on July 16, 2005. The attacker had detonated his explosive belt in a crowded marketplace, where hundreds of people had come to shop and mingle after the day's stifling heat subsided.

Al Qa'qaa

The Al Qa'qaa State Establishment was a massive weapons facility 48 kilometres south of Baghdad. It is near to the towns of Yusifiyah and Iskandariya at the geographic coordinates {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:33|0|54|N|44|13|12|E| | |name= }}. Covering an area of over 28 km², the site comprises 116 separate factories and over 1,100 structures of various kinds. It is now disused and many of the buildings have been destroyed by bombing, looting and accidental explosions.
