Shannon Harbour

Shannon Harbour has the (Irish: Caladh na Sionainne) older/regional name Cluain Uaine Bheag meaning 'Clononey Beg' or 'little Clononey' after the distance and population and low laying land of the area in comparison to the other side of a stream off the River Brosna, this townsland is called Cluain Uaine Mhor/ Clononey Mor/ 'Big Clononey'). It is a small village on the banks of the Grand Canal of Ireland. There are facilities for boats to park up on the edge of the canal.

River Brosna

The River Brosna is a river in Ireland, flowing through County Westmeath and County Offaly. The river rises in Lough Owel north of Mullingar and is a tributary of the River Shannon. It meets the Shannon at Shannon Harbour.

St. Rynagh's GAA

St. Rynagh's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club that encompasses the towns of Cloghan and Banagher in County Offaly, in Ireland. Formed in 1961, the club gained almost immediate success - winning the senior championship in 1965. St. Rynagh's went on to appear in three All-Ireland club finals during the next 30 years. St. Rynagh's has also supplied three of Offaly's four All-Ireland winning captains, namely Padraig Horan, Martin Hanamy and Hubert Rigney.

Doon, County Offaly

Doon is a small hamlet in the North-West Corner of County Offaly, Ireland. The doon landscape is dominated by The ruins of the castle of Esker, which stands on a sandy ridge north of Doon crossroads. A short distance to the east of the crossroads stands the ruin of an ancient building know locally as 'the monastery'. It was the private religious house attached to the castle.
