The club, part of the North Divisoipon of Tipperary GAA, was founded in 1937 and is named after Thomas MacDonagh, a signatory of the 1916 Proclamation who was born and lived in Cloughjordan. The clubhouse and field are located in Cloughjordan.

Ardcroney, officially Ardcrony (Irish: Ard Cróine, meaning "Cronia's height"), is a village and townland on the N52 National secondary road 10 km north of Nenagh in North Tipperary, Ireland. It is also the name of a civil parish in the historical barony of Ormond Lower. It is halfway between Nenagh and Borrisokane. Ardcroney Church Of Ireland church was moved to Bunratty folk park where it was unveiled in 1998. Ardcroney is also home to a Junior soccer club, Ardcroney FC.
