Derry City and Strabane District

Derry City and Strabane District is a proposed Northern Ireland local government district. The district is to be created by merging City of Derry District and Strabane District. The propsed district was to cover parts of counties Londonderry and Tyrone, and border County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland. The district was to have an electorate of 92,593. The name of the new district was announced on 17 September 2008.

Magheramason (from Irish: Machaire Measáin) is a small village and townland in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The village sits near the County Londonderry/County Tyrone border, 5 miles from the city of Derry and 9 miles from the town of Strabane. In the 2001 Census, it had a population of 393 people. Strabane Canal

The Strabane Canal is a short (four mile) canal in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It connected the market town of Strabane to the navigable River Foyle and thence to the port of Londonderry on the north coast of Ireland. The canal opened in 1796 and closed in 1962.

Holywell Hill

Holywell Hill transmitter This transmitter site in County Donegal, Ireland is situated just 50m from the border with Northern Ireland, and it is owned and operated by RTÉ NL. The transmission mast is a self supporting steel lattice tower 65m tall, with the site itself being 260m ASL. The station was opened in 1981 to provide UHF television coverage to parts of County Donegal and Derry City and County.
